Our History

Airport Home Appliance began as a small appliance and furniture store in 1963 built and run by the Schwartz brothers. This location, in Hayward, was across the Hesperian Blvd. from the Hayward airport. That is the reason for the name. In 1970 Bernie sold his business to three engineers, who in turn sold it to Don and Tomi van Eeghen. In 1981, Don and Tomi Van Eeghen became the third owners of Airport Home Appliance.

Their two daughters, Kris and Kate, worked in every aspect of running the business. Kris worked before and after school while attending Chabot College down the street. Kate, who was still in high school, came on the weekends when her schedule allowed. They both had several years of experience in retail while working weekends at Miller's Home Appliance in San Jose. Now, the second generation company is led by Kate and has taken the "Mom, Pop, & Daughters Shop" to what is now a nationally ranked and recognized appliance superstore.

To this day our goal remains the same, to provide our customers with the product knowledge, the best price and the largest selection to make an informed decision.
